Job summary:

The Emergency Response Technician is responsible for executing site-level emergency interventions, including rescue operations, initial firefighting, first aid support, and spill control actions. The role ensures the readiness of emergency response equipment, supports high-risk operations through monitoring and standby duties, and participates in drills and routine inspections. The technician works under the supervision of the Emergency Response Shift Supervisor and contributes to the site’s overall emergency preparedness and safety performance.

Job duties

• Respond promptly and effectively to various emergency scenarios, including fires, medical incidents, and chemical spills.
• Conduct rescue operations and evacuations in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Operate and maintain emergency equipment such as SCBAs, gas detectors, spill kits, and firefighting tools.
• Participate in and support scheduled emergency drills, safety inspections, and simulations.
• Perform safety checks before high-risk tasks, and remain on standby during hazardous work activities.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with emergency protocols.
• Maintain physical readiness and uphold high standards of discipline and professionalism.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and follow directions from supervisors during emergency operations.

Requirements

Functional

• Emergency response principles and site-specific rescue procedures
• Use of rescue tools, breathing apparatus, and emergency communications
• Knowledge of confined space, height rescue, and spill containment methods
• SCBA, gas detectors, tripods, stretchers, harnesses, spill kits, radios, extinguishers, fire hydrants, etc.
• Maintain full readiness of emergency equipment and personal protective devices throughout the shift.
• Follow instructions from the Emergency Response Shift Supervisor and accurately report all incident-related observations and actions.

• Ability to follow emergency instructions precisely and act rapidly under pressure
• Capable of operating specialized tools and PPE in stressful environments
• Understands and applies relevant emergency procedures, SOPs, and safety instructions

• Ensure timely and appropriate response to all emergencies in line with internal procedures and safety requirements.

• Responsible for acting within assigned emergency role and in accordance with legal, procedural, and ethical obligations.
• Accountable for avoiding reckless or unauthorized actions that may endanger personnel or property.

Education and experience

• Prior experience in emergency response, military, fire and rescue, or industrial safety roles preferred
• No formal degree required
• Emergency Response related trainings.
