Production Planning & Control Department Manager
Job overview
- The PP&C Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the production planning and control functions within the manufacturing facility. This role involves managing production schedules, coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient operations, optimizing inventory levels, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall productivity.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resource utilization.
- Coordinate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to align production plans with business objectives.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure efficient production flow.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess stock and reduce carrying costs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the PP&C team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and facilitate training and development opportunities.
- Analyze production processes and workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Utilize Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and present reports on production performance, including key metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and production efficiency to senior management.
- Use data analysis to inform decision-making and drive operational improvements.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, quality, logistics) to ensure seamless operations and effective problem-solving.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all PP&C-related inquiries and issues.
- Develop and manage the PP&C department budget, monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure effective use of resources to maintain operational efficiency without compromising quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in production planning and control, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production planning methodologies, inventory management, and scheduling techniques.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred skills
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced planning tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken) – essential for technical documentation and communication. Russian language is an advantage.
